Week 10: Dance, Celebrations, and All the Feels
Week 10 started off with a much-needed break since there were no classes on Monday. It gave us a chance to recharge after last week’s exams and gear up for what was coming. Even though it was a holiday, most of us already had our minds on the big event—our hip-hop dance performance.
Tuesday was a pretty relaxed day. The teachers were busy finalizing our first quarter grades, so we didn’t have much to do in class. This worked out perfectly because it gave us plenty of time to focus on our performance. We spent the day practicing, making sure every move was polished. After nearly a month of preparation, we were determined to give it our all on Thursday.
On Wednesday, there wasn’t much going on either, except for a symposium about Gender and Development (GAD). While it was informative, our minds were already filled with thoughts about the performance. There was a mix of excitement and nervousness that had everyone on edge, knowing the big day was just around the corner.

Then Thursday arrived. The moment we had been preparing for was finally here. Everyone was filled with nervous energy, but also excitement because this was the day we would show all the hard work we’d put in. We had been manifesting a perfect score from the very beginning, and now it was time to make it happen. When we stepped onto the stage and started dancing, everything felt in sync. We were fully immersed in the moment, and when it was over, we knew we had given it our best.

And then came the news: we got a perfect score! We couldn’t believe it—we had manifested it, and it actually happened. The whole class was ecstatic, and the atmosphere was full of joy and celebration. But what really touched us was what our PE teacher said after our performance. For once, we felt truly appreciated as our section, Excellence. She looked at us and said, “You’re Excellence for a reason.” It hit different because, since day one, all we ever heard was how our section should always be the leaders of all the other sections, how being in the first bracket meant we had to set an example. But that day, for the first time, we were recognized not for the pressure or expectations placed on us, but for who we were as a group. It felt amazing to finally be seen in that light.
To make it even better, our adviser was there to watch and support us. After the performance, we took pictures with our PE teacher, our adviser, and even our former adviser from last year, who showed up to cheer us on too. It felt like everything we had worked for had come together perfectly, and having our teachers there to witness it made the moment even more special.
Friday was Teacher’s Day, and we wanted to make sure we celebrated it right. Our class surprised our adviser with a heartfelt tribute. One of our classmates drew a picture of our adviser on the board, and we all added sticky notes with little messages around it. Some were funny, some were sweet, but they all came from a place of gratitude. To top it off, we got a gigantic pizza for the class, and we even sang a song for our adviser. It was such a simple gesture, but you could see how much it meant to them. The smiles, the laughter, and the sense of appreciation in the room made it a day to remember.
Looking back, Week 10 was full of milestones—nailing our dance performance, receiving heartfelt recognition from our PE teacher, and celebrating the teachers who support us every day. It feels like October is off to an amazing start, and with the long weekend ahead, we have a bit of time to breathe, reflect, and enjoy everything we’ve accomplished. I couldn’t ask for a better way to kick off the month.
