SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LIFE (Week 13) – "Stormy Skies and Sweet Surprises"

Week 13: Stormy Skies and Sweet Surprises

Week 13 turned out to be way more eventful than I’d expected! With Typhoon Kristine headed our way, face-to-face classes were canceled, so most of the week was spent doing schoolwork remotely. Some subjects switched to Modular Distance Learning (MDL), while others eased up and gave us a bit of a break. But, of course, there was one teacher who decided to drop a hefty load of assignments right at the end of the week. The timing could not have been worse—I mean, why not assign it on Monday so we’d have time? But I guess some things are out of our control.

The week had a bit of a repetitive feel, with most days blending together as I tackled assignments and kept up with readings. It was a bit boring at times, but I was grateful that my family stayed safe throughout Typhoon Kristine. My heart goes out to those who were affected by the storm; knowing the damage it caused in some areas made me realize how fortunate we were.

There were some perks with MDL, though! Many teachers held back on heavy assignments or gave us reasonable deadlines, which was honestly a relief. It’s amazing how a bit more time can take off some of the pressure. Well, except for that one big assignment that totally threw a wrench into the week’s flow!

But despite the storm and the workload, the real highlight of the week came with a surprise visit from my family just before the typhoon arrived. They brought along my cousins, nieces, and nephews, and we spent a perfect day at the mall. We had a fun meal at Jollibee, and then we headed to the play area. I had my first-ever experience in a ball pit with the little ones—I think I may have enjoyed it even more than they did! It was such a simple, joyful moment that reminded me of the importance of family and fun.

And the cherry on top? I finally tried a Magnum ice cream! I know it’s just ice cream, but it felt like such a treat, especially after a long week. That chocolate shell and creamy filling—it was the perfect ending to a busy, unexpected, and stormy week.
