SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LIFE (Week 15) – "Gearing Up for Midyear Break and Intramurals"

Week 15: Gearing Up for Midyear Break and Intramurals

Week 15 has been a whirlwind of catching up, balancing schoolwork, and preparing for the events lined up ahead. With the midyear break just around the corner, everyone is in a rush to cover lessons and finish activities, especially since we fell behind after the recent typhoon. Our intramurals, which were supposed to take place this week, got postponed due to all the unexpected schedule changes. It’s probably a blessing in disguise, though, since none of us have had much time to prepare. The mass dance demonstration we’ve been planning for weeks still needs a lot of work, and our Grade 12 yell isn’t even complete yet!

Our section was chosen to lead the yell for the whole Grade 12, so we’re trying our best to make it memorable. It’s taken away some of the time we’d usually spend on other activities, including our practicum practice for PE. Every free moment we get, we’re squeezing in practice for either the mass dance, the PE performance, or the yell. Thankfully, our PE teacher noticed how packed our schedule is and generously extended the deadline for our practicum until next week. That extra time has really helped us manage everything without completely losing our minds.

Despite the focus on intramurals, classes are still in full swing. With finals for this semester coming up right after midyear break, teachers are pushing hard to get through all the material. It’s a lot to handle, but we’re all doing our best to keep up. Some of my classmates are even more stretched, balancing schoolwork, dance practices, and responsibilities in different school organizations. I have to admire their dedication; they always seem to find time to support our section’s preparations, no matter how busy they are.

During lunch breaks and in between classes, our section gathers to practice our mass dance and finalize our yell for the intramurals. These practices have made us closer, and it’s uplifting to see how everyone pitches in, cheering each other on even when we’re tired. There’s this shared feeling of determination among us, knowing that we’re all in this together, pushing for the best performance we can give.

The atmosphere at school is buzzing with a mix of stress, excitement, and anticipation. Even though it feels like we’re constantly running from one thing to the next, the sense of unity and teamwork keeps us motivated. We’re all looking forward to a well-deserved midyear break to recharge—and, of course, to finally showcase all our hard work at intramurals when the time comes!
